~ 'In the Sway of an Olive Tree' is a visual exploration of the struggle of the human condition and embodies a spirit of resilience through imagined landscapes.

Within these works, the ethereal traces of analog film, stemming from my photographic explorations, intertwine with digital layers to manifest new visual narratives. The creative journey itself is central to the unfolding of the story; the very act of fragmenting, layering, and reassembling these elements forms the core of ghostly echoes of the past and histories that linger, sometimes visible, sometimes fading, embodying the urge to remember and the compulsion to forget. These narratives are deeply imbued with reflections on ancestral journeys of struggle, migration, and displacement; the profound human desire to belong while navigating invisibility and marginalization; and on the immense, often unspoken, hope my ancestors carried for a better future for their descendants, a hope that finds its lasting resonance within these narratives, seeking to articulate the inarticulable.

This body of work evokes a sense of enduring presence, where elements emerge and recede, speaking profoundly to memory and the resilience of a spirit. The organic, ethereal forms further resonate with the ancient olive tree, a symbol of fortitude, whose branches sway in the elements, yet its roots run deep into the soil.
